My name is Otto Solberg, and I am a photographer, videographer and mountain athlete based in Salt Lake City, Utah. As the Brand and Content Specialist at Snowbird, I am the sole in-house photographer, videographer and editor for the marketing department, and I manage the Snowbird Athlete Team.
I specialize in action photography, follow-cam videography, cinematography, and am a licensed drone pilot. I also shoot landscape, wildlife, portrait, lifestyle and concert photography and videography.
My path in the outdoor industry hasn’t been the “normal” one. I grew up in the tiny town of Boonsboro, Maryland, where I was lucky enough to go skiing three days a year on skis, boots and snow gear my family found at the Goodwill. While at Appalachian State, earning my B.A. in English, with a concentration in Professional Writing and a double minor in Communications and Commercial Photography, I began ski instructing at Sugar Mountain in North Carolina.
In 2018, I graduated with my my PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) Shield on my gown, packed up my car and headed to Utah for the first time to instruct at Snowbird. I fell deeply in love with skiing in the Wasatch. I began to document the progression my friends and I were making and the fun we were having. While I was honing in my free-ride skiing technique and backcountry skills, I also began to shoot with other athletes and brands.
I joined the Snowbird Marketing team in 2021 and began shooting and editing full time, year-round. As the Brand & Content Specialist, I create evergreen photo and video content for all of our business goals, manage the Snowbird Athlete Team, and work closely with our creative agency and designers to develop and protect our brand.
Outside of Snowbird, I have also had the opportunity to shoot for brands like Dynastar, Kaestle, Faction, Phaenom and BlackStrap, and model for Stio, Ski Utah and more.
